To create a collection of favorite pages

  1. View the page you want to add to your collection of favorite pages.
  2. On the Favorites menu, choose Add Page To Favorites.

To organize your Favorites list

  • On the Favorites menu, choose Open Favorites.

    ToDo This
    Add the current page to your Favorites list Make sure the page you want to add is active, and choose Add Page To Favorites on the Favorites menu.
    Add a different page to your Favorites list On the Favorites menu, choose New Favorite.
    Add a new folder On the Favorites menu, choose New Folder.
    Add a divider On the Favorites menu, choose New Divider.
    Move favorite pages, folders, and dividers Drag the page, folder, or divider. A black bar indicates where the item will appear when you release the mouse button.
    Rename an item Click the item name, and then type a new name.
    Delete an item Click the item's icon to select it, and then press the Delete key on the keyboard.
    Go to a favorite page Double-click the favorite page icon.
    Get information about a favorite page Click the favorite page icon to select it, and then, on the File menu, choose Get Info.
    Close the Favorites window Click the close box in the upper-left corner.

    To import a collection of favorite pages

    1. On the Favorites menu, choose Open Favorites.
    2. On the File menu, choose Import.
    3. Select the HTML file you want to import.
      The imported file appears in a folder with the same name as the file at the bottom of the Favorites window.

    To export your favorites list

    1. On the Favorites menu, choose Open Favorites.
    2. On the File menu, choose Export.
    3. Type a name for the file.
    4. Choose the location where you want the file saved.

    To create a shortcut to a page on the Desktop

    1. If the page is not on your Favorites list, add it.
    2. On the Favorites menu, choose Open Favorites.
    3. Drag a page from the Favorites window to the Desktop.

    To add a link to the Favorites bar

    1. If the page is not on your Favorites list, add it.
    2. From the Favorites menu, choose Open Favorites.
    3. Drag an item to the Toolbar Favorites folder.

    To save the current page on your computer

    1. From the File menu, choose Save As.
    2. Type a name for the page.
    3. Select the location where you want the page saved.
      • To save the text and HTML tags, on the Format pull-down menu, choose HTML Source.
      • To save the text only, on the Format pull-down menu, choose Plain Text.
    4. Click Save.

    To save the page or picture indicated by a hyperlink

    1. Point to the hyperlink or item you want, press and hold down the mouse button, and then choose Download Link To Disk.
    2. Type a name for the item.
    3. Select the location where you want the item saved.
    4. Click Save.

    To change the home page

    1. View the page you want to see when you first start Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    2. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
    3. Click the Home/Search Page tab.
    4. On the pull-down menu, choose Home Page.
    5. Click Use Current.

    1. View the page you want to use as your search page.
    2. On the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
    3. Click the Home/Search Page tab.
    4. On the pull-down menu, choose Search Page.
